2020 Training Program

This year, we are inviting all BWC race participants to prepare for the 5K in one of our New Balance BWC 5K Community Training Groups led by experienced Charm City Run coaches. You will have the option to sign up for a training group during the BWC 5K race registration process. Your $10 registration cost is a donation to House of Ruth Maryland, the BWC 5K race beneficiary. Be sure to select your preferred location after looking at the options below.

The New Balance BWC 5K Training Program is designed to prepare you for the Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K. Our goal is to provide a fun, inexpensive and supportive workout, and to encourage women to embark on a lifelong program of fitness.

  2. Register for the Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K by clicking here.

  3. Once you reach the “Sign Up for a BWC Training Group” page during the registration process, select your preferred location. This will add a $10 donation to your race registration total. The donation will be given to House of Ruth Maryland.

  4. Look forward to starting training with your community group the week of May 18th!


About Training

The training is broken into four groups, depending on your own goals and physical condition. Whether you have yet to start a walking program, or are a seasoned runner looking to improve your race time, one of our groups will be right for you. We offer groups for:

  • Beginning & Intermediate Walkers

  • Walker to Run

  • Beginning Runners

  • Intermediate Runners

Our coaches will help you determine the best group for you. You are also welcome to change groups at any time during the program based on your progress or fitness level. There is a great deal of flexibility—you can alter the workouts to meet your needs—our coaches will help you find the right workout to achieve your personal running/walking goals.

Training sessions will be held once a week from 6:30 – 7:30 pm and will include speakers on a variety of fitness-related topics, a warm-up session and a great workout. Each location will have a set training day. Check back for designated training days for each location.

Training will start the week of May 18th and will conclude with the Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K on June 28th, 2020.
